Life To Days
About Us

Dr. P T Thampi, a seasoned medical practitioner at central Travancore, completed his training in palliative care in December 2001. He aimed to provide quality palliative care to the poor, helpless and suffering people in nearby areas without causing any financial burden on them. Since he was practicing in Pushpagiri Medical College Hospital, Thiruvalla at that time, he discussed his objective with the hospital management. However, the management expressed their inability to support him due to financial constraints.

Dr. Thampi and his neighbor and friend Mr. Samuel P George (Samji) came up with the proposal of starting a charitable society for this purpose to have transparency and credibility in money transactions. The essence of the proposal was that the society will pay the expenses for the care of the patients to Pushpagiri Medical Society. The Pain And Palliative Care Society was born in April 2002. Later, Income Tax Exception for donation to the Society under 80 G was also obtained.

At the dawn of the year 2003, few more volunteers joined this venture. In the second half of 2003, Rev A C Kurien also joined the team after his retirement from active services in Mar Thoma Church as Vicar General and Sabha Secretary. This gave more life to the society and its services were expanded to all possible dimensions like supporting the educational expenses of needy children, construction of houses for the homeless, providing provisions to those families without income, supporting for marriages of girls and so on. We remember all those friends who generously help us in carrying out these services. The services of the volunteers throughout these years can never be forgotten.
